Veteran Italian goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca is back in Serie A after he signed a one-year contract with Ascoli.
The Bianconeri, who have lost Ferdinando Coppola to Milan, have netted the 40-year-old from Serie B giants Bologna on a free transfer.
The 1994 and 1998 World Cup ‘keeper made his Serie A debut for Sampdoria against Pisa back in May 1988.
He eventually left Doria for Inter and then rejoined Bologna, his hometown club, where his career started in 1984.
Pagliuca will now be given an opportunity to become Serie A’s leading player when it comes to appearances.
Pagliuca has featured in 569 games so far, one behind the legendary Dino Zoff, and only has Milan legend Paolo Maldini ahead of him with 582.
