Totti relishes 'double triumph' |

Francesco Totti insists it was a victory for him just to be in Germany, let alone picking up his World Cup winner’s medal.
“It has been a double victory for me, as so many had written me off and thought I’d never be able to recover in time. With a great deal of hard work and determination I made it and even lifted the trophy. My first wish was just to be here. As time went on and we got better, my thoughts went ahead to dreams of victory.”
The Roma captain risked missing the competition after fracturing his ankle in February, but made a remarkable recovery to play a key part in this triumph. Now he’s preparing for the parade that will go through Rome.
“I can only imagine what’s happening back home. I’ve already experienced that atmosphere with the Scudetto, but this’ll be crazy!”
Totti was substituted during the Final, as he couldn’t break through the solid French midfield to exert his influence.
“Lippi was asking me to play behind Claude Makelele and Patrick Vieira, but there wasn’t any space and so it was difficult. They wouldn’t let me near the ball and I got a bit irritable. I never got angry when replaced or left on the bench, as the Coach put his faith in me and I must thank him.”
He would have been one of the penalty takers in the shoot-out, but admits he would not have dared use one of his trademark chipped spot-kicks.
“I would’ve hit my penalty hard. It’s too easy now to say I would’ve chipped it, but in truth I would have given it power.” |

“我可以想象回到家乡罗马会是什么样子，我们在夺取联赛冠军的时候已经体验过，但这次，人人都会为世界冠军而疯狂！”
托蒂在决赛中被替换下场，因为他无法突破法国队坚固的中场，没有很好地发挥作用。
“里皮让我在马克莱莱和维埃拉的身后活动，但我几乎没有活动的空间，所以很困难。他们不让我轻易拿球，所以我有点急躁。被换下场时我并不生气，因为教练信任我，对此我很感激他。”
如果没有中途被换下场，托蒂可能会去罚点球，但托蒂坦言，他并不敢使用自己标志性的“勺子”，“事实上，我想我会大力射门，而不用勺子。” [em03] |
