Roma among lowest scoring teams in Serie A: worst offensive start to the season since 2010-11
After the first eight matchdays of Serie A, Roma is in a worrying situation on the offensive level, with only 8 goals scored.
This statistic makes the Giallorossi the worst attack among the top teams in Italy, writes Corriere della Sera.
For comparison, last year Roma had already scored 19 goals in the same period of time, of which 12 were scored by players who are no longer part of the squad today.
The decline compared to the previous season is evident, but this is not the first time that Roma has found itself having to face a similar crisis in the scoring phase of the season.
In the last 32 years, only in the 2010-2011 season, with Claudio Ranieri on the bench, had the club done worse, with just 7 goals in the first 8 matchdays.
At the time, Roma found themselves with only 9 points in the standings and a narrow advantage of one point over the relegation zone.
The all-time negative record, however, dates back to the 1974-75 season, when the team scored just 2 goals in the first eight games, scored by Prati and De Sisti against Ascoli and Lazio.
Despite the difficult start, Roma managed to finish that season in 3rd place, led by Nils Liedholm, placing themselves ahead of the reigning Italian champions Biancocelesti.
