ROMA have cancelled the contract of African defender Saliou Lassissi.
The Ivory Coast international has struggled to establish himself at Stadio Olimpico since arriving from Fiorentina two years ago.
He has barely figured in Fabio Capello's plans and has suffered from persistent injuries, with Roma finally losing patience with the 24-year-old.
Lassissi has frequently snubbed Roma's attempts to cure his injury problems as he would not receive certain treatments for religious reasons.
Roma have also not seen Lassissi since May despite the stopper being called up to their summer retreat.
The former Parma ace sent a fax saying he would be delayed by two weeks but he still did not arrive for the training camp.
Earlier this year, Lassissi outlined his determination to have his contract rescinded because he claimed he had not been paid for several months, something which Roma refuted.
Roma have now opted to cut their losses and terminate Lassissi's contract, leaving the defender to seek out pastures new.
